Tokyo Hiyoko – Meika Hiyoko
"Meika Hiyoko" is the signature confection of Tokyo Hiyoko; it is a *wagashi* (Japanese-style steamed bun) shaped like an adorable chick, featuring a moist texture. Although originally created in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the product expanded to Tokyo around the time of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and is now widely cherished as a classic Tokyo souvenir.
Its fragrant outer crust—made using a proprietary flour blend developed specifically for Hiyoko—encases a generous amount of rich, unique "egg-yolk style" filling (*kimi-an*) based on kidney beans.
